10th June - Knysna, Oudtshoorn

Today we drove from Wilderness to Knysna, where we spent a lovely little afternoon before heading to Oudtshoorn. Knysna is a pretty little place with a huge lagoon, with houses built all around it, and even on the little islands in the lagoon itself. We took a little cruise at 11 in the morning that brought us around it and showed us the two small islands in the midst of the lagoon. Saw a really cute kid on board our ferry while doing so.

We had a delicious lunch in Knysna (great paella with lotsa seafood, and the ubiquitous beer of course) and after a little bit of consumerism by the Queen of Shopping, we drove back to George and up to Oudtshoorn. We drove through this area called Four Passes, and it has a fantastic view of the valleys in that area.

Little panorama of the sights at one of the stops along the Four Passes. Breathtaking view.

Me being bored.

We reached Oudtshoorn and then checked into the Backpacker's Paradise, which is actually a great dorm. Clean, with lots of room. For once, I wasn't stuck on some tiny little bed, and had room to roll around, and there was even a little reading light. It helped that I had decent roommates and so it was very quiet and comfortable. Would definitely advise anyone going to Oudsthoorn to stay here if they'd like.

Big beds, although you probably can't tell from this picture...

We went out for dinner, where we had some Cape Malay food, and also came across a classic car owners gathering of sorts at a hotel near the dorm, and the cars were pretty spiffy indeed.
